Supporting Skerritts Group To Acquire Ambrose Fisher Ltd
Thistle Initiatives provides support to private equity-backed Skerritts Group to acquire Kent-based financial planning firm Ambrose Fisher as part of plans to extend its presence in the region.
The Investments team at Thistle Initiatives was engaged by Skerritts Group to undertake the regulatory due diligence of the acquisition of Ambrose Fisher Ltd in September 2023.
Ambrose Fisher brings in an additional £62mn of assets under management and takes the number of deals that the Skerritts Group has completed since the Sovereign investment up to seven.
Simon Fisher, director of Ambrose Fisher, said: “I have spent some considerable time looking thoroughly at potential companies that could ensure that we are fully resourced and are able to continue to offer the full range of services to our clients.
“I have also been taking a longer-term view with regards to succession planning. It was obvious that Skerritts are the best choice for the safeguarding of our clients’ financial future.” Over the last 18 months, Skerritts completed six acquisitions, adding new offices in Kent, Hampshire and London.
Paul Feeney, chief executive officer of Skerritts, said: “Adding a high-quality chartered financial planning firm such as Ambrose Fisher to the group enables us to not only increase our presence in the South East, but also moves us one step closer to becoming Britain’s premier chartered financial planner."
Alex Paschalis, Investments Director at Thistle Initiatives said: “I would like to express my congratulations to the entire Skerritts team on this most recent acquisition of Ambrose Fisher. Thistle Initiatives has a long-standing relationship with Skerritts and it has been a privilege to work alongside them on this and past acquisitions. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the years to come. Congratulations to the team, once again!”.
