In May 2021, RegData fully replaced Gabriel as the FCA’s data collection platform after a lengthy roll-out to 52,000 firms.
RegData is central to the FCA’s Data Strategy, which is intended to harness the power of data and advanced analytics to transform financial regulation. It features a number of enhancements across three key areas which users identified – the FCA summarised these key changes in its RegData welcome video available here and in its news story on RegData in November 2020 available here.
The FCA has also published a range of short RegData user guides and explainer videos to guide users through the functionality of the new platform. See the resources page available here. There is also a help/FAQs page available here.
New technical packs are also available for firms that require alternative submission methods such as the Direct Submission Gateway and the Secure File Transfer Protocol.
The changes made to the platform have not changed the way firms provide data, and data items and forms have not changed as a result of the transition from Gabriel to RegData.
Firms are being invited by the FCA to complete a short survey available here on their experience of the transition and the system so far.
Firms’ use of the Connect system will not change as a result of the transition. Users have the same username and password for Connect and RegData.
